The Deni Ute Muster

Eventualities

30-09-2020 • 43 mins

The town of Deniliquin is located on the edge of the outback, along the beautiful Edward River in regional NSW, with a population close to 7,000. It lays claim to being the ute capital of the world. On the October NSW Labour Day weekend each year, around 20,000 people gather to celebrate the Deni Ute Muster. The Muster has become a nationally recognised event that provides the ultimate Australian experience.

Vicky Lowry is the General Manager of the Deni Ute Muster and has been involved with the event for the last seven years. Vicky joined me for this episode of Eventualities to discuss this iconic regional event. There was a lot to cover in this conversation, so it's been broken up into two parts.

Part A (this episode) covers the history of the event (I’m still amazed at what the committee achieved in the first year), community involvement and support, volunteers and performers.
