"The Hobbit" is a fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It follows the story of a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who is convinced by the wizard Gandalf to join a group of dwarves on a quest to reclaim the dwarves' homeland from the dragon Smaug.
