24.251 | The Way Of The Lord Is A Stronghold | Prov 10:26-29 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Prov 10:26-29 ESV 26 Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him. 27 The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. 28 The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. 29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers. - Prov 10:26-29 ESV THE WAY OF THE LORD IS A STRONGHOLD The wicked is a disappointment. He is not dependable. His habits are as distasteful as vinegar and as irritating as smoke that gets into the eyes.[v.26] Later, Solomon will remark that relying on a fool is as irrational as cutting off one's own feet (Prov 26:6). Christians, however, need to take to heart the counsel Paul gives in Galatians 6:9: "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." He also encouraged the Corinthian believers to "be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain" (1 Cor 15:58). It’s a common observation that most wicked persons don’t live long. Wicked lifestyles are prone to accidents, diseases, and retributions. It’s not a guarantee but an obvious trend. Most likely, the righteous have a long life. Why? He recognizes the importance of presenting his body "as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God" (Rom 12:1). He refuses to let sin reign in his body (Rom 6:12). He does not present the members of his body to sin as instruments for unrighteousness. Instead, he presents his members to God as instruments of righteousness (Rom 6:12–13). He recognizes that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and God has purchased his body with a price, the blood of Christ. Therefore, he glorifies God in his body (1 Cor 6:19–20). The wicked are hopeless. They just live for the here and now. But, the righteous has future ‘expectations’ [Titus 2:13] Peter assures the righteous of a living hope. He says that God "has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Pet 1:3). There is stability to the ‘blameless. The word "blameless," in this context, is not "sinlessness." Rather, it refers to the one who chooses to honor God with his thoughts and actions, such that other people have no valid criticisms against him (Prov 2:7; Psa119:1). Indeed, “the wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”[Prov 28:1] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.250 | THE BLESSING OF THE LORD, IT MAKES RICH | Proverbs 10:22-25 | God’s Word for Today
God’s Word for Today17 Oct, 202422 The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.23 Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.24 What the wicked dreads will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.25 When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is established forever.- Prov 10:22-25 ESV THE BLESSING OF THE LORD, IT MAKES RICH Verse 22 in the original, it says, “the blessing of the LORD, it makes rich.” This is not a guarantee of prosperity, but a comparison between wealth gained righteously as opposed to that obtained by deceptions and sinful practices. The righteous person is not always financially successful. We know evil people can become wealthy (Psa 37:7; 73:3). But, righteousness, put into practice through wisdom, gives a person a better likelihood of long-lasting triumph. In short, wealth obtained morally is more secure than riches gained through sinful and illegal means. What a person sows he will reap. Deceitful dealings will put a person at risk of revenge, legal trouble, or other problems (Prov 10:2, 9). Furthermore, the pleasure of having wealth by sinful means could not clean a guilty conscience. There is a big difference between the attitudes of the godly and the wicked towards sin. A scoffer or fool thinks of sin as an entertainment. For him, it’s a joke and humorous to hurt others and defame God. He takes pleasure in transgressing God's commandments. They’re unmindful of the eternal consequences. But, God has promised to punish the offenders when Jesus returns "to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way" (Jude 1:15). On the other hand, the wise person understands the seriousness of sin and takes pleasure in wisdom (v.23). He delights in doing what is right in the sight of God. Like Jesus, he delights to do God's will (Heb 10:7). Knowing what is right, and doing what is godly, is not merely an act of duty for a believer. It's meant to be fulfilling and joyful, altogether. The wicked will experience the fruit of their wickedness. It’s inevitable. The wickedhas fear of punishment for his evil deeds, whereas the righteous can look forward to the rewards of blessing and God's approval. As the righteous delights in the Lord, He will give him the desires of his heart.[Psa 37:4] The same psalmist provides wise counsel, that is, "Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday" (Psa 37:5–6). While the wicked will perish[v.24], the righteous will flourish. "The righteous has an everlasting foundation."[NASB] Scripture teaches that the life built by an unbeliever is like a house built on sand. When heavy rains pound it and a flood engulfs it, the house collapses; but the life of a righteous person is like a house built on a rock. Heavy rains and a rising flood cannot destroy it (Mat 7:24–27).Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmgListen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcastAudible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audibleFollow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio#gospellightfilipino#godswordfortoday#bookofProverbs

24.249 | THE RIGHTEOUS AND WICKED CONTRASTED | Proverbs 10:17-21 | God’s Word for Today
God’s Word for Today16 Oct, 202417 Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.18 The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.19 When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is of little worth.21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.- Prov 10:17-21 ESV THE RIGHTEOUS AND WICKED CONTRASTEDThe person who refuses to be corrected do continue the wrong path through life.[v.17] Sadly, they set a bad example and are able to deceive others to follow them. They are governed by hatred.[v18] Hatred makes a person mischievous. A natural tendency of hate is the use blatant lies or deception against a victim. Often, a hateful person tries to disguise their contempt for others, even pretending to like the ones he hates. In doing so, he commits hypocrisy, another sin that offends the Lord (1 Pet 2:1] Love is the opposite. Love causes a person to sacrifice for the one he loves, but hatred causes a person to wish only bad things for the one he hates (Rom 12:9).Moreover, the wicked people are incessant talkers.[v.19] James describes the tongue as "a fire, a world of unrighteousness" (Jas 3:6), untamable, and "a restless evil, full of deadly poison" (Jas 3:8). They are not wise, therefore, to restrain their lips. James derides the hypocritical use of the tongue. He writes: "With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so" (Jas 3:9–10). James offers sound advice to be prudent by exhorting, "Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger" (Jas 1:19).In verses 20 & 21, Solomon expressed the wicked heart is of no eternal worth. It produces evil (Luke 6:45). Out from his heart come curses, blasphemes, lies, slanders, defames, gossips, that destroy others. However, the words of the righteous person build others up. Wise words point the way to life, both eternal life and daily life. They encourage, comfort, and provide excellent counsel. Out of the good treasure of his heart the righteous person produces good (Luke 6:45). His lips speak God's words that "are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times" (Psa 12:6). The righteous person's words are true and trustworthy, like God's Word (John 17:17).Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmgListen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcastAudible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audibleFollow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio#gospellightfilipino#godswordfortoday#bookofProverbs

24.248 | THE VALUE OF HAVING WEALTH | Proverbs 10:15-16 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 10:15-16 (ESV)   15 A rich man's wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin. 16 The wage of the righteous leads to life, the gain of the wicked to sin.   THE VALUE OF HAVING WEALTH   We recognize that a wealthy person has an advantage over a poor person. But, we have to remember that his advantage is temporary and unreliable. A rich man's fortune can provide a certain amount of security. For example, if tragedy strikes and damages his house, he has the resources to repair the damage. If an enemy threatens him, he has the resources to defend himself. On the other hand, poverty can render a person helpless. He is unable to defend against an enemy or powerless to improve his lot in life. Money is not the solution for everything, of course. But it's apparent that being poor makes everything else in one’s life more difficult and challenging.   The scriptures warns us about trusting in riches instead of in God. Paul gave Timothy the responsibility to charge the rich "not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy"[1 Tim 6:17]. Is it wrong to have riches? It is, however, wrong for riches to possess us. Take for example, Joseph of Arimathea who was a rich man. He courageously demonstrated his loyalty to Jesus by providing a tomb for Jesus' burial (Luke 23:50-56].   Let’s remember the warning from Psalm 49:6-7, that is, , "Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him" Money cannot take us to heaven, "for the redemption of their souls is costly" (v. 8). In fact, it costs the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ! Even, Jesus warned us that money may keep some people out of heaven. He says, "It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" (Mat 19:23]   It is not a sin to have the things that money can buy as long as you don't lose the things that money can't buy, that is, eternal life. Don't have any false confidence that simply because the bank account looks good you're going to live. You can't take your money with you, can you? But, you can use it today for God's glory. When you do that, you are investing it in eternity. Make your wealth eternal by letting God direct your use of it.[Mat 6:21]   Verse 16 reminds us about the result of our choices in life. The ‘wage’ here is not about money but the natural result of our actions. The pursuit of righteousness leads to life. A righteous person experiences personally what Jesus meant when He said, "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). However, the wicked leads a life that produces only sin (Romans 6:23). He may indulge the passions of his sin nature (1 Pet 4:2–3), but he cannot satisfy the need of his heart for an intimate relationship with God (Rev 7:15–17). 24.247 | LOVE COVERS ALL OFFENSES | Proverbs 10:12-14 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 10:12-14 (ESV)   12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. 13 On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense. 14 The wise lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings ruin near.   LOVE COVERS ALL OFFENSES   We live in a broken world. And, it’s a given fact that others would hurt us as we do to others, either advertently or inadvertently. Choosing to respond in love is powerful. This idea is repeated often in the Old Testament (Lev 19:18; Prov 15:1) and is cited in the New Testament (Jas 5:20; 1 Peter 4:8). In short, revenge-seeking never comes to a good end. It only multiplies anger and escalates a cycle of retaliation.   We have the choice to respond with love to those who offend us. This is not referring to ignoring sin or "covering it up." Love rejoices in the truth not wrong. But love does keep on trying to find common ground and ways to work together. It waits patiently for an offender to see the error of his way and repent. It is willing to forgive and reconcile. In so far as it's possible, and reasonable, love leads us to pursue unity (John 17:21)   Jesus specified love as the evidence of belonging to Him. He said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:34–35).   Verses 13 and 14 affirm the importance of listening to those who teach wisdom. To love rather than to take revenge on our enemy is the wisest thing to do. This is in line with Jesus’ teaching, is it not? When Jesus ministered on earth, He spoke wisely, and His words carried divine authority. Multitudes gathered to hear Him teach because He spoke with authority. Mark 1:22 relates that, when Jesus taught in the synagogue on the Sabbath, the people "were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes."   Let’s reflect to the truth we learned today. Jesus is the truth.[John 14:6] Those who know Him are the truly wise. They follow His words and example in relating with people – even loving the unlovable and forgiving them. However, the eternal fate of those who ignore Him as the Word of Life will be tragic. Jesus said, “The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.”[John 12:48]   Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.246 | Do Walk In Integrity | Prov 10:8-11 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Prov 10:8-11 ESV 8 The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin. 9 Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. 10 Whoever winks the eye causes trouble, and a babbling fool will come to ruin. 11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - Prov 10:8-11 ESV DO WALK IN INTEGRITY The earnest seeker of God’s wisdom is teachable. He recognizes that he has not arrived the state of knowing everything. It is the posture of Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus to receive His words. Did not James instruct us to "be quick to hear, slow to speak"?[Jas 1:19] The fact that we have two ears but only one mouth ought to remind us to heed James's instruction to listen more than talk. Conversely, the ‘babbling fool’ is unteachable. He’s a busy talker, not a learner. As a result of his unwillingness to accept godly commandments, the "scoffer" (Prov 3:34) will come to a deplorable end of his life. The wise person has a pure heart. He walks with integrity. An honest and sincere life doesn't run the risk of being caught in lies or deceit, does he? No one can legitimately build a valid case against him. As a blameless person, he is "secured" in life. Such integrity should also characterised the Christian, should it not? Paul admonishes the Philippian believers, "Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world" (Phi 2:14–15). On the other hand, Solomon also points out that he who conducts himself dishonestly and commits evil will be eventually discovered. How true is what Sir Walter Scott stated, that is, "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!" These arrogant babblers have the same fate to the eye winkers.[v.10] Eye winking has a reference to secret signs and hidden messages (see Prov 6:13). In this context, it means a signal to evil companions to join in deceitful acts and crime. In Psalm 35:19 David prayed: "Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause." The righteous person, however, has speech like a fountain of life. Out of the abundance of their purified hearts will come edifying words. Their words are clean and invigorating. They edify those who hear them. Unlike the speech of the righteous, the speech of the wicked corrupts. The wicked commit violent acts and use deceptive words to cover their evil deeds (Prov 4:14–17; 10:6). Let’s ponder for a moment. Either we speak edifying words or hurting words. It depends upon the state of our hearts. A tree, as our hearts are, could not ear good and bad tree simultaneously. Jesus is the truth. His heart is pure. Thus, Jesus said, "The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life" (John 6:63). And, if we claim as followers of Jesus, we should carefully guard our speech and employ words that are gracious and seasoned with salt (Col 4:6). We should shun malice, deceit, and slander (1 Peter 2:1). We should not allow any corrupt talk to come out of their mouths, "but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Eph 4:29). ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.245 | The Good Legacy | Prov 10:6-7 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Prov 10:6-7 ESV 6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. 7 The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot. - Prov 10:6-7 ESV THE GOOD LEGACY The memory of the righteous is a blessing. They exude a good legacy. The righteous out of his good heart brings forth good, and the wicked person out of his evil heart brings forth evil. The motives of the righteous and wicked are diametrically opposite to each other. 6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. The wicked persons play hypocrites. Jesus exposed the Pharisees for their hypocritical hearts, saying, “You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned" (Mat 12:34–37). Consequently, the righteous through their good deeds, will leave a memorable legacy. Their lives are blessings to others. Even in Psa 112:3, the psalmist tells us that the righteousness of the person who fears the Lord endures forever. And, he will be remembered forever.[Psa 112:6] Solomon also said, "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth." [Ecc 7:1] In contrast, when wicked people die, those who live on are more likely feel relieved than they are to grieve, don’t they? Their memory fades away and their reputation decays. Why? Like putrefying waste, it is unpleasant so people want to forget it completely. Their names will vanish in obscurity. In history, many statues and edifices of despots or evil dictators eventually are toppled down. Let’s ponder for a moment. How do others perceive you and myself? Would others see the beauty of Christ in our lives? Our talk talks but our walk talks than our talk talks. As Jesus says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”[Mat 5:16] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.244 | BE DILIGENT | Proverbs 10:4-5 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
God’s Word for Today10 Oct, 20244 A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.5 He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.- Prov 10:4-5 ESV BE DILIGENTThe righteous has God the Father who will surely provide his needs. He is more precious than the birds that He feeds. However, this does not mean he could be slack and lazy. There is no virtue in laziness. A lazy person is unproductive and suffer poverty. On the other hand, the diligent is productive and becomes rich. Our faith that God provides is evidenced by our diligence, is it not?. Scriptures consistently encourages us to diligently work and avoids laziness. Even in the garden of Eden where conditions were perfect for Adam and Eve, God gave Adam the responsibility to work. Genesis 2:15 says, "The LORD God took the man [Adam] and put him in the garden of Eden to work and keep it." In his first letter to the Thessalonians Paul condemns laziness. He writes: "We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all" (1 Thess 5:12–14). Moreover, he said in 2 Thess 3:7–8 to the believers that he and his coworkers were not lazy when they were at Thessalonica. He recalls how they worked night and day so they wouldn't be a burden to any of the believers. In fact, his warning against laziness is stern, "If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat" (2 Thess 3:10).The work ethic of the diligent demonstrates his prudence.[v.5]He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shameA diligent person works at every opportuned time while lazy person misses these opportunities, even during harvesting of crops. They love to sleep. Diligent children do make their parents proud. Laziness leads kids to a bad reputation making parents ashamed of them. What does this mean for us today? We, Christians, ought to diligently serve God, especially in harvesting souls. When Jesus' disciples returned with food from Samaria, they offered Jesus food to eat. But, He replied that His food was to do the will of God (John 4:34). At that time, Jesus saw the crowd of men wearing traditional white robes. He said to them, "Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, then comes the harvest'? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest" (John 4:35). Today is the day for harvesting souls. Tomorrow may be too late! As Jesus admonishes us, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.”[John 9:4] As used by Christ here, the "day" refers to the time left for Him to serve and fulfil God's will on earth. On the other hand, the "night" refers to the rapidly approaching time when Jesus will die, ending His earthly work (John 7:33; 12:35). Thus, like Jesus, the day is the most effective time for us to work, but it is also limited. We have only one life and soon it will pass. We have to redeem our time for the days are evil. 24.243 | A WISE SON MAKES A GLAD FATHER | Proverbs 10:1-3 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Sinon
God’s Word for Today9 Oct, 20241 The proverbs of Solomon.A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.2 Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.3 The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.- Prov 10:1-3 ESV A WISE SON MAKES A GLAD FATHERThe wise son is a joy to his parents. This is emphasized by the contrast to the sorrow a foolish son could give to his parents.[v.1] It is because of the true value of his heart – fear of God.And, his fear of God is expressed in his righteous living.[v.2] Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.Indeed, a person may accumulate treasures by wicked means and gain fleeting pleasure from them. However, they amount to nothing ultimately. They could neither give true satisfaction nor can they prolong life. A billionaire who has accumulated enormous wealth, especially by dishonestly, by cleverness, or by outright violence, cannot buy even one more day to add to his allotted lifespan. History is full of stories about the untimely death of wealthy and powerful people. One very important note is that when death happens the unrighteous rich person is separated from his wealth forever. He has nothing to look forward to beyond the grave except suffering and eternal separation from God Let’s remember to what Jesus has said. He said in Mark 8:36-38, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” And in Luke 12:20-21, He concluded about the the fate of the ungodly rich man, saying, “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”The righteous, on the other hand. Is delivered from death. It’s not his own righteousness but Christ’s righteousness being clothed upon him. As Paul declares;“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”[2 Cor 5:21]Moreover, God promises to provide for the needs of the righteous.[v.3] The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.Did not Jesus teach us not to be anxious about our life's struggles? He pointed out that our heavenly Father feeds the birds, and He indicated that the disciples were of greater value than the birds (Mat 6:26). He said, "Do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?'" (Mat 6:31), and promised, "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Mat 6:33). The apostle Paul told the Philippian believers, "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Phi 4:19).Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmgListen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcastAudible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audibleFollow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio#gospellightfilipino#godswordfortoday#bookofProverbs

24.241 | THE WAY OF FOLLY | Proverbs 9:13-18 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 9:13-18 (ESV)   13 The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive and knows nothing. 14 She sits at the door of her house; she takes a seat on the highest places of the town, 15 calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their way, 16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” And to him who lacks sense she says, 17 “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” 18 But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.   THE WAY OF FOLLY   These verses depicting a folly woman are inversions to the noble and wealthy woman. [see v1-6] The noble lady mentioned earlier provides insight, life, increased learning, and longevity. This woman Folly, however, is seductive and knows nothing. She lacks understanding. There is nothing good she can provide but trouble at the end.   The ‘simple’ and ‘he who lacks sense’ fall unto her tricks. They are drawn into her house like an unsuspecting bird being drawn into a trap. She’s not content to simply wait for her victims. She aggressively searches for one. She goes through the town and sits like a queen in the town's highest places, where she can be easily seen and heard.   Similarly, it is not hard to find evil today, especially on the Internet. There is a growing trend of young viewership to porn sites. According to Josh MacDowell [2018], “the largest consumers of pornography are 12 to 17 year-old boys.”   He is captivated by her loud talk, superficial beauty, and deceit. She says; “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” The imagery of "stolen water" and "bread eaten in secret" is meant to evoke the idea of something forbidden or taken through illicit means. Satan is the author of lies. He points out that God is withholding good things from us, so we should defy His commands and enjoy what we want [see Gen 3:1-6] This folly woman convinced the naïve that illicit sex is more satisfying than sex between a husband and wife, which God has designed (Gen 1:28); that his sin will remain secret. However, it is not hidden from God's pervasive gaze (Heb 4:13). And the ultimate result of sin is not happiness, but death (Prov 9:18; Rom 6:23).   Let’s ponder for a moment. There is nobody strong enough to withstand the urges of his flesh by himself. “Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”[Jas 1:14,15] What are we going to do? Let us ‘ put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.’[Rom 13:14] Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.241 | THE WISE ARE BECOMING WISER | Proverbs 9:7-12 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 9:7-12 (ESV)   THE WISE ARE BECOMING WISER   A wise person will grow wiser. The reason is in his teachable attitude which is opposite to the scoffer.[v.7-8]   The "scoffer" depicted here is unteachable, defined by a Hebrew word meaning "mocker, inflated, scorner." They hate any attempt to change their mind, preferring to pursue along their current path. They respond to other views with arrogance and ridicule. This is the same person as the "wicked" man[v.8], coming from a different Hebrew word, who lashes out violently at the person who tries to tell him the truth. This lashing out includes slander. The word "injury" implies stains or slander.   Today, well-meaning people have often suffered backlash from those who respond to criticism with hateful anger. Jesus and the apostle Paul were victims of such people who hated them for telling them the truth. Wokeism and the cancel culture have popularized this attitude.   In contrast, the wise will take rebuke with humility. They will appreciate correction and as a result, they become better. One example is Peter. He admitted in the presence of Jesus that he was a sinful man. Yet, he became a faithful follower, who loved Jesus dearly. His love was not always perfect, but he confessed that he loved Jesus (see John 21:15–17).   Generally, a wise person who receives instruction will become wiser.[v9] His learning is dynamic not static. He will never feel he has reach a point where he has no need for additional wisdom or further learning. The Bible challenges believers to build on their faith and to grow their knowledge of the Lord. In 2 Peter 1:5–7 the apostle Peter admonishes: "For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love." He concludes by saying "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet 3:18).   The foundation of his right attitude to learn is his ’reverence’ toward God.[v.10] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. The word translated "beginning" here is from the root ‘tachillah’, which implies a foundation or an origin. In this context, Solomon means it is a prerequisite for wisdom. Without a humble, sincere reverence for who God is, a person will be arrogant and instinctively lash out when they are corrected (see v.7).   It is our common knowledge that the person who lives by godly wisdom has a better likelihood of experiencing blessing and avoiding negative consequences in comparison to a life lived in sin and vices. The context is much the same as a doctor who tells a patient, "eat healthy food and you will live longer." A life of obedience to God's instructions is a good life. It is marked by peace, joy, significance, and fellowship with the Lord. The person who chooses wisdom sets themselves on a path much more likely to involve both quantity of years and quality of life.   Let’s reflect about this today. To be either wise or a scoffer is a personal choice. 12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scoff, you alone will bear it. In Jesus' parable, an unwise wealthy farmer boasted, "Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry" (Luke 12:19). However, God answered him with this rebuke, "Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?" (Luke 12:20). As far as eternity is concerned, a fat bank account is worthless. You cannot take those earthly goods with you into eternity, can you? I have yet to see a hearse loaded with money with the corpse. Thus, what matters is a person's faith in the all-wise Savior. The wise believer stores up treasure in heaven and receives rewards for faithful service (1 Cor 3:10–14).

24.240 | Wisdom And Satisfaction | Prov 9:1-6 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Prov 9:1-6 ESV 1 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. 2 She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. 3 She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, 4 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says, 5 “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. 6 Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.” - Prov 9:1-6 ESV WISDOM AND SATISFACTION Here, Solomon continues the the imagery about wisdom. Wisdom is imagined as a noble, wealthy, and generous woman who has built a fine home. The main implication here is spiritual satisfaction and an attractive picture of life. There is a picture of a wealthy woman giving abundant provision. The image of butchering and preparing animals was not something done without proper planning. Likewise, the imagery of mixing wine and setting a table implies hospitality. Wisdom intends to invite others and treat those guests well (v.3–5). There is no sense of lack but fulfilment and satisfaction. Wisdom sending her servant girls to issue her invitation to dine. They call from the highest places in town, where they will easily be seen and heard. The images of feasts and banquets are meant to attract guests. This is common in Scripture. One story Jesus related is about a king who prepared a lavish feast in honor of his son. The king sent forth his servants to call the invited persons to the feast, but they rejected the call. Therefore, he ordered his servants to go back to the main roads and gather for the feast all whom they will meet at the road, both good and bad people (see Mat 22:1–10). Jesus has been sending believers into all the world to preach the gospel from the time He commissioned His disciples to do so (Matthew 28:18–20). Like the messengers in verses 4-6, believers extend an invitation for others to come and know the One who is the Truth (John 14:6). Many of whom Jesus has invited were gullible and lacked good sense people. Generally, unbelievers are susceptible to the devil and his lies, are they not? (1 Cor 2:14). The apostle Paul writes the sad condition of our hearts as unbelievers before. He states, "you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience" (Eph 2:1–2). Like wisdom personified as the noble lady, God in Christ has lavished us with His goodness and grace. There is no exhaustion of God’s grace. “ For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness because, in his divine forbearance, he had passed over former sins.”[Rom 3:23-25] Jesus even said that as the good shepherd, He gives His sheep an abundant life.[John 10:10] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.239 | Blessed Are Those Who Keep My Ways | Prov 8:32-36 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Prov 8:32-36 ESV 32 “And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. 34 Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, 36 but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” - Prov 8:32-36 ESV BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO KEEP MY WAYS Blessedness is neither in being informed nor in paying mental assent to God’s instruction. It is in keeping His words and not neglect it. Should we hear and obey His words, we will enjoy success in what we do for God's glory (Jos 1:7–8; Psa 1:1–3). Once more, wisdom pleads sons to listen to her [v.32-33]. In what way? He is to listen attentively with much anticipation.[v.34] 34 Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. They resemble students who wait for the gates of their school to open or someone who is waiting at his door for an important visitor or message. Receiving and rejecting wisdom do result in blessedness and blight, respectively. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, 36 but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” The word "blessed" means happy. People seek happiness in a variety of sources. Some look for happiness in personal relationships, in money or success, in popularity or fame or in illicit pleasure. But true, lasting happiness is found only in Jesus. He spoke of His joy—full joy—coming to those who keep His commandments. The apostle John says in John 15:10–11; “10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.238 | WISDOM AND CREATION | Proverbs 8:22-36 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
God’s Word for Today3 Oct, 2024- Prov 8:22-36 ESV WISDOM AND CREATIONThe eternal God is the source of wisdom. It existed before the universe. [v.22-23]22 “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.23 Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.Wisdom emanates from eternity for God is eternal. Wisdom says, “Before the earth was… when there were no depths… fountains… mountains…hills… nor fields… I was there” Apparently, God created the universe by wisdom (v.24-29). 24 When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water.25 Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth,26 before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world.27 When he established the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle on the face of the deep,28 when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep,29 when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,Because of this, the completed creation, particularly the human creation, was a source of joy to God (v.30-31). 30 then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always,31 rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.“I was beside him… a master workman… daily his delight… rejoicing always before him… and delighting in the children of man” All of these expressions find their full revelation in the New Testament. Why? Christian theologians have seen the parallelism of Jesus Christ and the Wisdom of God mentioned in this remarkable passage. Christ was in the beginning with God, and was God, and without him nothing was made that has been made. As John says;1“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”[John 1:1-5]Even, the apostle Paul recognizes that Jesus ‘holds’ creation together. In Col 1:15-17, he says;15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. God’s Word for Today2 Oct, 202412 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.13 The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.14 I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.15 By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just;16 by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.18 Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.19 My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice,21 granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.- Prov 8:12-21 ESV WISDOM IS WEALTHOne of the wealth of wisdom is prudence. "Prudence" is from a Hebrew word meaning sense and shrewdness. There is the ability to make godly decisions based on knowledge. This was contrasted with someone gullible or naïve (see v.5)12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.13 The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. There is ‘fear of God’ evidenced by hatred to evil. And, this perspective means recognizing God's holiness, goodness, and pursuing it. Thus, it includes hating and rejecting whatever is opposed to Him. In Eph 5:15–17, Paul exhorts, "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understanding what the will of the Lord is." Wisdom also is power. Through godly wisdom, God’s delegated authorities will govern justly.14 I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.15 By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just;16 by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.Perverse women destroy kings [Prov 31:3] but godly wisdom builds kingdom.Wisdom also guarantees eternal riches. 18 Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.19 My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice,21 granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries. We who are believers have an inheritance that is "imperishable, undefiled, and unfading" that is kept in heaven for them (1 Pet 1:4). Someday believers will see Jesus as He is and be like Him (1 John 3:2). No amount of worldly wealth can compare to what believers have in Christ. As a hymn writer testified, "I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold."This wisdom is not illusive. Is God illusive? Definitely not! God has initiated this for us to know Him in Christ.[Rom 5:8]. Jesus' love for us does kindle in us a reciprocal love for Him, doesn’t it? The apostle John writes, "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). Let’s reflect this truth in our hearts today. Do you diligently seek God today? As Jeremiah writes, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord”[Jer 29:13,14a]Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmgListen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcastAudible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audibleFollow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio#gospellightfilipino#godswordfortoday#bookofProverbs

24.236 | DOES NOT WISDOM CALL? | Proverbs 8:1-11 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 8:1-11 (ESV)   DOES NOT WISDOM CALL?   There are two rhetorical questions asked[v.1]. Thus, wisdom is not some far-off or unattainable thing. Rather, our daily life and experience should inspire us to seek wisdom, for we can find it and have some benefits. Wisdom is personified here as the woman who contrasts sharply with the prostitute (Prov 7:10), who went into the streets in search of the foolish young man to seduce. Where could we find wisdom? We can find her everywhere.[v.2,3] 2 On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand; 3 beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud   Wisdom is pleading in a soliloquy [talking to oneself] 4 “To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man. Does not Jesus call all mankind to believe on him? He extends his call to everyone by saying, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Mat 11:28). Near His arrest and crucifixion, Jesus wept for Jerusalem, saying, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!" (Mat 23:37). Even, the bible closes about the Spirit’s invitation, "The Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come.' And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price" (Rev 22:17). The good news is for everyone who is everywhere. [John 3:16-18]   In contrast to the deception of the wicked woman, wisdom provides prudence and sense. -Please read Proverbs 8:5-7   Scripture does not encourage blind, mindless belief in God, does it? Rather, it’s sensible and reasonable to follow what's clearly revealed by God in His creation (Psa 19:1, Rom 1:18–20) The most important aspect of prudence is when a person lives with high moral values. When a fool responds to Jesus' invitation to receive salvation, he obtains sense. Christianity enables saved sinners to see life clearly and live righteously.[1 Cor 2:14]   The forbidden woman is the embodiment of lies while wisdom is for truth. 8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them. 9 They are all straight to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge. Godly wisdom, in contrast, contains nothing that deviates from reality. As an expression of God's own perfection (v.22), true wisdom is never incorrect and never deceptive. Christ is the truth and wisdom for the believers. They are enlightened by the Holy Spirit so that they can clearly understand God's Word (1 Cor 2:14).   Between wisdom and riches, which is better? Solomon argues that wisdom is much better. 10 Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, 11 for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. This is illustrated by the story of a rich man who died and went to the place of suffering.(Luke 16:19–31). Paul also warns those who long to be rich that "we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world" (1 Tim 6:7). He explains that “those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction" (1 Tim 6:9). Jesus even asks, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?"[ Luke 9:25]   Let’s pause and ponder for a moment. Elvis Presley sang, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.” While the voices of the world is strong everywhere, don’t neglect to listen to the call of wisdom. God is still speaking to us through His words. Have we paid our attention to the voice of God rather than to the world? Why are you doing what are you doing right now?

24.235 | LORD, LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION | Proverbs 7:5-27 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 7:5-27 (ESV)   5 To keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words. 6 For at the window of my house I have looked out through my lattice, 7 and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths, a young man lacking sense, 8 passing along the street near her corner, taking the road to her house 9 in the twilight, in the evening, at the time of night and darkness. 10 And behold, the woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute, wily of heart. 11 She is loud and wayward; her feet do not stay at home; 12 now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait. 13 She seizes him and kisses him, and with bold face she says to him, 14 “I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows; 15 so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you. 16 I have spread my couch with coverings, colored linens from Egyptian linen; 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love. 19 For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; 20 he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.” 21 With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. 22 All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast 23 till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. 24 And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth. 25 Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths, 26 for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng. 27 Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.   LORD, LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION   The father is relating his observation. [v.6] This wicked woman is an expert predator. He summarizes;[v.24-27] The predator is preying the gullible young men.[v.7] A youth can be either a reckless young man like the prodigal son or young Timothy. The naïve victim is oblivious to the danger.[v.8-12] This young man walks smack into the trap. He lacks discernment.[see Psa 1] Paul warns us to abstain from the appearance of evil.[1 Thess 5:22] If you don’t want to taste a bitter fruit, stay away from the devil’s orchard.   The predator’s arrows are her flattering words, surprise, and seductive look[v.10-21]. The unsuspecting victim is following the path towards the slaughter-house. He isn’t forced. He decided for this as deceived. He is ignorant and oblivious. It will be too late for him to realize his wrong. He is a fool, and he does not take into account that God judges sin. The damage is irreparable and fatal. God can forgive but He does not remove the consequence.   Let’s ponder for a moment. We are all gullible to Satan’s lies, are we not? Prov 14:12 proclaims, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." So we humbly pray before God, “Lord lead us not into temptation.” God does not tempt us. James says, “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.[James 1:13-14]   Our only safety is in obeying God’s words. And knowing what is right and wrong is by simply listening to God’s words. The words He says are right and should govern all our attitudes and actions in life. His commandments are not restrictions for happiness but protection from miseries.   Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.234 | DO YOU CHERISH GOD’S WORDS? | Proverbs 7:1-5 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 7:1-5 (ESV)   1 My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; 2 keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; 3 bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call insight your intimate friend, 5 to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.   DO YOU CHERISH GOD’S WORDS?   Solomon instructs his son to have the right attitudes towards his words. He has to cherish it. In what ways? Firstly, his son must treasure his words. Even, the psalmist testified: "The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces" (Psa 119:72). In the N. T., the apostle Paul counsels us to let Christ's teachings dwell in us richly (Col 3:16). Everything in this world will last but not His words.[Mat 24:35] Do you cherish God’s word like a precious treasure?   Moreover, he must reckon God’s word as essential that can make him live. Did not Jesus say, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God'? (Mat 4:4). We as sinners do receive eternal life by responding in faith to what God's Word says about Jesus. Why? Jesus claims He is the bread of life. He is the Son of God and the only Savior (John 3:36; Rom 10:9–10; 1 Tim 1:15). Also, an abundant life is offered to all who believe on Jesus, is it not? (John 10:10).   Furthermore, he should guard it as protecting the ‘apple of our eye’. This comes from the Hebrew term referring to the pupil - the center of the eye. This is a highly sensitive and extremely valuable part of the body. When a threatening object approaches the eyes, the eyelids close quickly to protect the pupils. We should feel bad when we are deprived of hearing God’s Word.   Lastly, he must embrace his words like a trusted friend or relative. These are the kinds of people we can trust to understand what we are going through in life, are they not? Embracing God’s Words is neither transactional nor dutiful. It’s a pleasure talking to a trusted friend. When we read God’s word, God is talking to us. In short, God’s word is dependable. Keeping God’s word won’t lead us astray. In fact, it will lead us to the right path.   Think for a moment. Do you have the right attitude toward the Word of God? May we will be like Jeremiah, who said, “ Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.”[Jer 15:16]   Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmg Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcast Audible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audible Follow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio #gospellightfilipino #godswordfortoday #bookofProverbs

24.233 | BEWARE OF FATAL ATTRACTION | Proverbs 6:25-35 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Nazario Sinon
Text: Proverbs 6:25-35 (ESV)  BEWARE OF FATAL ATTRACTION   The ravages of the sin of adultery are catastrophic results than we realize. It’s started with an attraction. The prostitute woman is a sweet talker, beautiful and tantalizing. But, the truly beautiful woman, is beautiful on the inside, is it not? Prov 31:30 says "beauty is vain." Physical beauty is worth nothing for she lacks godliness. First Peter 3:4 tells women, "Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."   The prostitute woman will destroy a precious life into just having ‘a loaf of bread’, that is, from fullness to poverty.[v.26] Or, the service of a prostitute is as cheap as buying a loaf of bread but she can cost everything in one’s life. Many naïve men are arrogant to claim that they can handle it by their wit as a boy playing with fire. Thus Solomon asks, “27 Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? 28 Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched? 29 So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; none who touches her will go unpunished. The classic example is Samson playing with fire. His adulterous affair with Delilah led to his weakness, defeat, blindness, and humiliation at the end. David’s sin also led to the destruction of his family. An adulterer may think his sin is a secret, as David did, but God sees all and knows all. He has warned, "Be sure your sin will find you out" (Num 32:23).   The evil of adultery is worse when compared with stealing bread for a desperately hungry person. Society typically doesn't hate or persecute a starving thief, does it? However, it’s not tolerated since he may still suffer the consequences when caught. [v.30] The person may die of hunger when he has nothing to eat. But the ‘lust’ of the person does not cost his life if not fulfilled, does it? Therefore, the adulterer has no excuses. That's not a sin of desperation, it's one of lust! According to Lev 20:10, adultery in the nation of Israel was punishable by death. Thus, we read in John 8 about a woman who was caught in the act of adultery, accused by the scribes and the Pharisees stoned to death. Jesus affirmed it.   A person who bargains his life for momentary pleasure of sin lacks sense, that is, he is foolish. 32 He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself. 33 He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away. 34 For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes revenge. 35 He will accept no compensation; he will refuse though you multiply gifts. There is an inevitable result of a wounded conscience, heart, and relationship with the Lord. He destroys his reputation and loses, whatever honor and esteem before the people who know him. He has disgraced himself before their eyes, his spouse and children. The wronged spouse can be expected to express furious jealousy. Further, those who choose to take revenge as a result aren't inclined to show mercy.[v.34,35] Moreover, his sinful act can even cause the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme God. Indeed, the ravages of sexual sins are irreparable.   Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

24.232 | GOD’S COMMANDMENT IS A LAMP | Proverbs 6:20-24 | God’s Word for Today with Pastor Sinon
God’s Word for Today26 Sep, 202420 My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching.21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you.23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,24 to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.Prov 6:20-24 ESV GOD’S COMMANDMENT IS A LAMPThe father emphasized to his son that his instruction should affect every aspect of his life.22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you. Thus, he earnestly begs for his son to pay attention to his words. [v.20,21]20 My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching.21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.It is a common observation that many children often resent parental guidance but come to appreciate those messages later in life. Very often, those who ignore the wisdom of their parents come to realize when they have kids of their own that it is good advice.Parents are like broken records as they repeatedly instruct their kids. The importance of their instruction can’t be over-emphasized. They must ‘bind them in their hearts and tie it in their necks.’ A concerned father could not take second chances. The temptation of the world is so strong and appealing to a gullible young man. The Jews believed its importance up to the point that they copied Deuteronomy 6:8, enclosed them in leather cases and tied them to the left arm and forehead. They call these phylacteries and they wore it like an amulet. The intention is right but the method is wrong because they should hid the law in their hearts. Today, unlike the Jews, we honor God by hiding His Word in our hearts and obeying it. Scriptures should permeate our hearts, minds and souls as verse 22 admonishes us.22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you. This is the guarantee that he won’t fall prey to the ‘forbidden woman’ She operates in the power of darkness, and she could lead him to stumble and fall. But, father’s words as God’s word is, like a lamp. As the psalmist declares, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”[Psa 119:105]23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life,Even the son must consider subjecting himself to ‘his reproofs of discipline’ as the right path of life. The word of God is God’s instrument to make us righteous. As Paul declares, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”[2 Tim 3:16]Watch in YouTube: https://youtu.be/lPuuvKVODmgListen and FOLLOW us on our podcast Spotify: http://bit.ly/glccfil_spotify Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-applepcast Google Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-googlepcastAudible Podcast: http://bit.ly/glccfil-audibleFollow us on various media platforms: https://gospellightfilipino.contactin.bio#gospellightfilipino#godswordfortoday#bookofProverbs
