Exactly one week after graduating from Northwestern Law School, Emily Shaules was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (aka chronic widespread pain). Thereafter her career choices were made in an attempt to adapt to the condition. She left law, moved to her dream city of Asheville, North Carolina, and took up acting. While pursuing an acting career she also became a founder and CEO of an energy bar company before taking a pause. Even though she was successful doing things she was passionate about, she still lived with chronic pain and desperately needed to scale back her hours of work. It was then that she pivoted once more and landed in her current role as a transformational life coach with a focus on women with invisible illnesses. Emily expands on what invisible illness really means, why she founded something called “The Canary Club” and how she’s found the most rewarding and healing work of her life.
