As we reach the end of Joseph's story, and the end of Genesis, the authors start to lift their audience's eyes to the ongoing work of the covenant in the family of Abraham as it grows and responds to God. Jacob, in his dying days, blesses his sons, and begins the next stage of the redemptive story, as the nation of Israel is foreshadowed and prophesied.
