Beyond Ozempic: The Future of Obesity Medicine with Dr. Mike Albert
Check out the Medical Weight Loss Summit, launching on October 15th, 2024, which I collaborated on with Dr. Talks!Link: Medical Weight Loss Summit — Dr. Francavilla ShowWhat’s changing in the field of obesity medicine?Keeping up with the changes in obesity medicine can be a bit tricky, which is why Dr. Mike Albert, a board-certified specialist in internal and obesity medicine and co-founder of Accomplish Health, is here to share his insights. Accomplish Health is a telehealth practice focused on providing comprehensive obesity care. When he's not working, Dr. Albert educates over 300,000 followers on social media about all things obesity. In this episode, Dr. Albert dives into the latest advancements in obesity care, especially the rise of GLP-1 medications. These new treatments are shaking things up and offering more effective options, but with big companies getting involved, there’s concern about whether quality care is getting lost in the rush for profit. He points out that these hormone-based therapies use hormones from the gastrointestinal tract to help regulate appetite and energy, and they’re actually more potent than the hormones our bodies naturally produce — all thanks to some cool advances in biotechnology. The discussion also covers how we’re shifting our view of obesity from just focusing on weight loss to recognizing it as a complex chronic disease with metabolic implications. It’s a big change that highlights the need for a more comprehensive approach to treatment. If you’re curious about the latest trends and insights in obesity medicine, be sure to tune in to the latest episode.Check out Calocurb:Instagram: michaelalbertmdInstagram: accomplishhlthTiktok: michaelalbertmdWebsite: Accomplish HealthX: Michael "Mike" Albert, MDLinkedIn: Michael Albert MD Connect with me:Instagram: doctorfrancavillaFacebook: Help Your Patients Lose Weight with Dr. FrancavillaWebsite: Dr. Francavilla ShowYoutube: The Doctor Francavilla ShowGLP Strong: glpstrong.com

Why We Need to Stop Focusing on the Cost of Obesity Medications
Claim your complimentary gift of my exclusive mini weight care guide today!Link: Weight Care Guide — Dr. Francavilla Show (thedrfrancavillashow.com)Today, it's all about the debate surrounding the cost of obesity treatment. This issue is especially frustrating. Unlike other medical conditions, like heart attacks or cancer—which are treated without much hesitation despite their high costs—obesity treatment often faces scrutiny and resistance due to its price tag.To get past these challenges, we need to rethink how we approach obesity treatment. It's worth asking why we're quick to invest in treatments for other serious health issues, but hold back when it comes to obesity.A lot of this comes from the idea that people are "responsible" for their weight, leading some to believe the cost of treatment shouldn’t be covered. But to truly move forward, we need to rethink this approach.I’ve offered other key takeaways on this topic that can help navigate the many obstacles in obesity treatment. Tune in to the full episode for more. If you’re ready to take action and explore solutions, the Obesity Action Coalition is a great resource. You can visit their website to find tools and information on how to advocate for better obesity treatment coverage.Connect with me:Instagram: doctorfrancavillaFacebook: Help Your Patients Lose Weight with Dr. FrancavillaWebsite: Dr. Francavilla ShowYoutube: The Doctor Francavilla ShowGLP Strong: glpstrong.com.A significant part of the controversy stems from the belief that individuals should bear the financial burden of their weight-related health issues because they are deemed "responsible" for their condition. This perspective overlooks the fact that addressing obesity is not only about individual responsibility but also about ensuring equitable access to necessary medical care.To get past these challenges, we need to rethink how we approach obesity treatment. It's worth asking why we're quick to invest in treatments for other serious health issues but hold back when it comes to obesity. Changing this mindset could lead to better coverage and support for those who need treatment. For those interested in taking practical steps to address weight management, the Obesity Action Coalition offers valuable resources. These insights into Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels can provide valuable strategies tailored to your or someone else's unique approach to goals and expectations, offering new ways to stay motivated and achieve success in health and fitness goals.Rubin's framework categorizes people into four personality types:Upholders: They readily meet both inner and outer expectations, making them proficient at sticking to plans and goals, including those related to weight management.Questioners: They meet inner expectations but question outer ones. For weight management, they need reasons and justifications for their health choices.Obligers: They meet outer expectations but struggle with inner ones. They may excel with external accountability, making them responsive to support and encouragement in weight management efforts.Rebels: They resist both inner and outer expectations and thrive on spontaneity and freedom. For weight management, they may benefit from non-traditional, flexible approaches.By identifying your or someone else's tendency, you can tailor strategies to maximize motivation and overcome challenges in achieving health goals.
